October 22 and 27, 2015 - Broomfield staff met with Root House, LLC and several subject matter experts in the bike park, adaptive sports, fitness and play industries to discuss schematic and conceptual design of features to be included in the Phase 1 Plan. Members of PRAC, OSTAC, and local community members with expertise in these areas were also invited to share their personal experiences, ideas, and comments.
Monday, Nov. 9 and 13, 2015, at Paul Derda Recreation Center
On Nov. 9, Broomfield staff and Root House, LLC hosted a public open house for all ages to preview and vote for their favorite bike park, adventure play, and nature fitness amenities. Voting was also available to youth attending Kids Night Out on Friday, Nov. 13. Over 700 votes were gathered at the two events.
An online survey was available in fall 2015 for citizens to provide comments on the Phase 1 proposed features. View the survey results.
Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, 6 p.m., George Di Ciero City and County Building, City Council Chambers
The Parks and Recreation and Open Space and Trails Advisory Committees met to review and discuss the McKay/Lambertson Open Lands Phase 1 park design. Results from the November 9 and 13 public engagement and online survey were also presented. Representatives from Root House Studio, LLC presented the plan vision to create something truly unique that will encourage people to be active outdoors. The park design reflects the four major regional landscapes of Colorado; the plains, riparian, foothills, and Rocky Mountains, and will use natural materials to create unique spaces for every type of outdoor activity and play.
