On Tuesday, January 14, Broomfield City Council approved the renaming a portion of of Lamar Street to Spader Way. Mr. Spader’s direct public service toBroomfield spans 22 years. He was originally elected to the City Council in 1973, and then elected as Mayor in 1975, serving in that capacity for 12 years – the longest of any Broomfield Mayor. He was elected again to City Council in 2003 andserved until 2011, when he stepped down due to term limitations.Mr. Spader’s policy leadership provided the political stability that helped Broomfield progress throughout its formative years. Walt played a key role in establishing the commercialemployment areas of Broomfield that now host the Ball Corporation and theInterlocken Advanced Technology Park.
