The location of a property within the boundary of the City
and County of Broomfield determines which taxing entities provide service to
that property and have authority to apply a mill levy.
The total tax rate for any property is made up of the
individual tax rates for each taxing entity. In Broomfield, all property lies within the
City and County of Broomfield and the North Metro fire district.
The geographic area where properties are located and are served by the
same taxing entities is called a tax area. To find your tax area and
corresponding tax rate, look at the map and refer to the color coded key on the
map. This gives you the tax area id number. Then click on the link
for Authorities by District, the tax areas are grouped by school district. The total net levy of your area is what is
multiplied by your assessed value to determine the taxes. Your tax area id number can also be found on the notice of
valuation and on your tax statement that is mailed by the treasurer.
