Broomfield Roofing and Re-roofing Information

The City and County of Broomfield requires building permits for the replacement of roofing materials on all buildings.  The applicant for a permit shall provide an estimated permit value at the time of application.  Permit valuations shall include total value of work, including materials and labor, for which the permit is being issued.  If, in the opinion of the building official, the valuation is underestimated on the application, the permit shall be denied, unless the applicant can show detailed estimates to meet the approval of the building official.  Permit fees are based on this total valuation.  The roof permit form has an abbreviated fee schedule on the second page; please note also the use tax noted at the bottom of the fee schedule page.  For project values exceeding $18,000, please see the complete fee schedule.  While a single roof permit can be issued in a matter of minutes at our counter, multiple permits at one time should be submitted at least at least one or two days in advance.  At this time, the City and County of Broomfield only accepts cash or checks for payment.

Mid-roof inspections (performed when the roof is between 25% and 75% complete) and final inspections are required.  The contractor is responsible for providing access (adequate ladders) for all inspections.  Due to the large number of permits, it is currently advisable to request mid-roof inspections at least two days in advance so that projects are not delayed while waiting for inspections.  Call 303.438.6376 to request inspections; use inspection codes 109 for mid-roof inspections and 105 for final inspections.

We have developed a re-roof policy to address many questions that arise for re-roofing permits.  If this document does not address your concerns, please contact our office at 303.438.6370.

To check permit or inspection status, you may use the Public Access link under Online Permit Access.  In order to schedule inspections online, you must register with a valid e-mail address.
