Q. Where do I register my car in
Broomfield?
A. The Motor Vehicle Office is located at One DesCombes Drive, on
the west end of the City and County Building. Vehicle
registration and titling services are available to Broomfield residents at this
location.
Q. Where do I go to get my Driver's
License?
A. Driver's Licenses are issued from the State Drivers License Offices.
Their locations may be found in the blue government pages of your telephone book
under State, Motor Vehicle. Website:

located at 5139 W. 120th Ave. #G. Their telephone number is 720-887-8396.
At this location, they will handle renewals, replacements, all written tests,
traffic records, and reinstatements. They do not do driving tests.
Q. Do I need ID to do title and
registration transactions?
A. Yes,
secure and verifiable ID is required for all title, new registrations,
temporary permits and handicap placards.
Q. I just bought a new car. What do
I do next?
A. Financed or Leased: If you financed or leased the vehicle,
the paperwork will be sent directly to the Motor Vehicle Department by the
dealer or the lending institution. Once the paperwork is processed by the
Motor Vehicle Department, they will send out a Title Complete notification.
Once you receive this notification, bring the notification,
secure and verifiable ID,
proof of insurance
for the vehicle, and possibly proof of emissions to our office. At that
time, registration fees will be collected.
Cash Deal Purchased from a Dealer: If you paid cash to the
dealer, the dealer will send you the necessary title papers to bring to our
office to title and register the vehicle. You will also need to bring
secure and verifiable ID,
proof of insurance for the vehicle, and possibly
proof of emissions. At
that time, title fees, sales taxes (if due), and registration fees will be
collected.
Purchased from an individual: When a vehicle is purchased from
an individual, you need to bring in the title, (properly signed off)
secure and verifiable ID,
proof of
insurance for that vehicle, and possibly proof of emissions. At that time,
title fees, sales taxes, and registration fees will be collected.
Q. Do I need to get an emissions test?
A. Depending on the age of your vehicle and the last date of
testing, you may need an emissions test. Check your renewal notice, it
should indicate if you need the test, or you can contact our office.

Q. I've seen other kinds of license plates
on cars. Can I get different plates?
A. There are several types of specialty license plates. Most
specialty plates have a one time additional fee, but some have an annual
additional fee. Some of the more popular plates here Honorably Discharged
Veteran, Pioneer, and the Columbine plates. Many of the specialty plates
have required qualifiers, and are available in limited quantities. If you

Q. How do I obtain a Handicap Plate and/or
Placard?
A. You must have a Colorado licensed physician complete the
Application for Persons with Disabilities Parking Privileges
and you will need
secure
and verifiable ID.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept a fax copy. There is no charge for a
temporary or 3 year Handicap Placard. Handicap plates are charged the
regular plate fees (no additional charges).
Q. I am moving to Broomfield from out of
state. What is required to register my vehicle?
