Growing Old in a New Age:

Learn about the impact of aging on both society and individuals as 75 diverse elders relate their experiences. The four ways that age is measured — chronologically, biologically, psychologically, and socially — are the basis for discussing the quality of life in later years. The series examines common misconceptions about aging and provides a springboard for analyzing new roles for elders, intergenerational alliances, resource allocation, and artificial attempts to prolong life. These programs are particularly useful for students of psychology, gerontology, sociology, family studies, human development, and health sciences

Thirteen half-hour video programs, taped at working childcare centers, show real caregivers and children working and playing together in ways that facilitate children's learning and development. The programs highlight teaching approaches and interactions with children from multicultural backgrounds and of all developmental levels including those with disabilities and special needs.

After The Storm

A half hour television special about watersheds--After the Storm--co-produced by The Weather Channel (TWC) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).   The show highlights three case studies-Santa Monica Bay, the Mississippi River Basin/Gulf of Mexico, and New York City- where polluted runoff threatens watersheds highly valued for recreation, commercial fisheries and navigation, and drinking water.   Key scientists and water quality experts, and citizens involved in local and national watershed protection efforts provide insight into the problems as well as solutions to today's water quality challenges.  After the Storm also explains simple things people can do to protect their local watershed-such as picking up after one's dog, recycling household hazardous wastes, and conserving water.

Identity Theft- Real Problems, Real Solutions

Working with CURBSIDE Datacontrol and the 18th Judicial District, the city will be airing "Identity Theft: Real Problems, Real Solutions," an informative 30-minute television program that will begin airing this month on Broomfield's channel 8.

Hosted by Mason Finks, Director of Fraud Prevention for the District Attorney's Office in the 18th Judicial District, the show provides viewers with important tips to prevent identity fraud in all its forms. Specifically, the program delves into topics such as the most common types of identity fraud; the best practices for protecting private and confidential information; the best ways for individuals to minimize their risk for fraud; and the steps viewers should take if their personal information is stolen.

The program's production is a timely effort. According to the Federal Trade Commission, Colorado ranks 5th in the nation for identity theft--trailing only Arizona, Nevada, California and Texas. In 2005, nearly 5,000 of the state's residents reported being victims of identity theft.
