It is unlawful for any person having the care, custody,
control, confidence, or influence over any child to willfully cause or permit
the life of such child to be endangered, or the health of such child to be
injured, or the morals of such child to be impaired; or to willfully cause or
permit such child to be placed in such a situation, business or occupation that
its life, health, or morals shall be endangered; or to willfully abandon such
child; or to torture, torment, cruelly punish, or willfully or negligently
deprive such child of necessary food, clothing, or shelter, or in any other
manner injure such child unnecessarily. (Ord. 15 §17, 1963)
9-66-020 Hiring children under fourteen during school hours prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person to take, receive, hire, or
employ any child under the age of fourteen years to labor in any smelter, mill,
mine, or factory, or in or about any business or employment whatever, within the
city during the school hours of any school day. (Ord. 15 §18,
1963)
