ADVISEMENT OF AVAILABLE DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE SERVICES
Domestic violence can
include emotional abuse (name calling or insults), financial abuse (not allowing
you to have a job or access to money), threats (to harm you, loved ones, pets or
to commit suicide), intimidation (breaking property, throwing things, or
preventing you from leaving), isolation (preventing you from seeing or talking
to loved ones), using institutions (threatening to call police or child
protective services), or physical abuse (pinching, grabbing, twisting arms, or
pushing). If you feel that you have experienced domestic violence and would like
support, below is a list of available services. Many of these services are free
or offered on a sliding fee scale.
C.R.S. 14-10-124 states
that when there is credible evidence of spouse abuse, the court may take this
into account when determining parenting time and allocating decision-making
responsibility for children. Per the statute, “’spouse abuse’” means the proven
threat of or infliction of physical pain or injury by a spouse or a party on the
other party”. If you are unsure about how this statute may apply in your case,
please contact an attorney for legal advice.
