Judge Barbara B. Koehler, the Presiding Municipal Court Judge, was appointed to the bench by City Council in 2002.  Prior to her appointment she was engaged in the private practice of law for over 20 years. 
 
Judge Koehler graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1976 with a B.A. degree. She graduated from The University of Denver, College of Law in 1982.  She was admitted to practice in Colorado in 1982.  She is also a trained mediator.

She presides over traffic and ordinance misdemeanor and code enforcement violations.
