FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.  Am I registered to Vote?
A.  Click here to see if you are registered to vote

Q.  How do I become eligible to vote?
A.  In order to be eligible to vote, you must reside in the City and County of Broomfield and have resided at your present address for at least 30 days before an election.  You must register 29 days or more before the election to be eligible to vote in an upcoming election (voter registration form).

Q.  What if I moved prior to 30 days before an election?
A.  You may still be eligible to vote.  If you were registered to vote at your previous address and that address was in Broomfield, you will need to change your address before voting (see the question below for how to update your registration address).  If you were registered to vote at your previous address and that address was NOT in Broomfield, you will need to complete an emergency registration either at the Elections Office prior to Election Day or at a polling location on Election Day.

Q.  How do I change my address if I have moved?
A.  You can either mail the change of address on the online voter registration form, or stop in at our office.

Q.  Can I change my name, address or party affiliation over the phone?
A.  No, any type of change must be done in writing or by completing an online voter registration form.

Q.  How do I register to vote?
A.  You may register to vote online, in person at any election office, state drivers license office, or public library

Q.  Will my voter registration be cancelled, if I missed voting in any one election?
A.  No If you fail to vote in a General election, the City and County of Broomfield Elections Office will mail you a notification.  The notification will inform you that, according to our records you did not vote in the last election.  By signing and returning the notification to the elections office, we will update any new information and keep your registration record active.

Q.  What is Mail-In Voting?
A.  Rather than having to vote in-person at a polling location, you may request that a ballot be mailed to you.  To request a mail-in ballot, you will need to complete and submit a mail-in ballot application.  You also have the opportunity to request that your name be included on a permanent mail-in ballot list.  By doing this, you will not have to reapply for a mail-in ballot every year.

Q.  How do I properly mark my mail-in ballot when I receive it?
A.  Click here to see instructions on how to properly mark a mail-in ballot.

Q.  What is a Provisional Ballot?
A.  Provisional ballots are issued to voters whose names do not appear on the voter registration roles at the polling place.  Provisional ballots will also be issued to voters who are unable to provide a form of identification at the polling place.  The Clerk and Recorder has up to twelve days following the election to verify the eligibility of provisional voters.  If the provisional voter is determined eligible, their ballot will be counted.  The provisional ballot total will be included with the election results once this verification process is complete.

Q.  Are Broomfield Council candidates affiliated with a political party?
A.  Although individual candidates may be affiliated with a party, according to the City and County of Broomfield charter all elected offices are non-partisan.  Candidate party affiliations will not be listed on the ballot.

Q.  When I go to vote, do I have to bring identification with me?
A.  Yes, you must bring identification (list of acceptable forms of identification).

Q.  Is there somewhere I can get election results after 7:00p.m. on election day?
A.  The City and County of Broomfield website, votebroomfield.org will be posting and updating results as they come in beginning at 7:00p.m. election night.
