Provisional ballots:
The ballots are issued to Broomfield residents who wish to vote but
whose names do not appear on the voter registration roles at the vote
centers. Provisional ballots will also be issued to voters who are
unable to provide identification at the polling place.
The Clerk and Recorder then has up to 14 days following the election to
verify whether voters who completed a provisional ballot were in fact
eligible to vote and their ballots should be counted. The provisional
ballot total will be posted once this verification process is complete.
Mail-in
Ballots:
Mail-in ballots are issued to voters who requested a ballot be mailed to
them prior to Election Day. Signatures on the returned ballot envelopes
are compared to voter signatures on file. If signatures do not match, a
notice is sent to the mail-in ballot voter asking them to contact the
Clerk and Recorder to verify if the ballot mailed-in is in fact theirs.
Mail-in ballot voters who were asked to verify their ballots have up to
eight days after the election to do so. Verified mail-in ballots counted
after the election will cause the mail-in ballot totals currently
displayed to change.
