Planning and designing a Xeriscape landscape can add value to your home, reduce water consumption, and reduce
the amount of maintenance needed in your yard. Learn how to start with a good design either for re-landscaping an
existing yard or planning a new one. Make this the year you will have that beautiful yard that protects the
environment by reducing water consumption.
Presented by the Environmental Services Division, the Colorado State University (CSU) Master Gardeners
in Broomfield, and the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library.

Earth Day Program - Just for Kids!
Saturday afternoon, April 17, 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Broomfield Community Center, 280 Lamar St., in the Lakeshore Room
Only 50 slots are available for children ages 6 to 12 years.
Children can be dropped off for an afternoon of crafts, fun activities, and educational presentations to promote
sustainability, environmental awareness, and resource conservation.
Presented by the Environmental Services Division, Stormwater Division, and the Colorado State University (CSU)
Master Gardeners.

Spring Cleanup!
This year's Spring Cleanup will take place on three Saturdays: April 24,
May 1, and May 8. Watch the website and the Broomfield Enterprise in
March/April for more details!
Again this year, Broomfield has contracted with Western Disposal Services to provide CURBSIDE pickup of large,
non-hazardous waste items not normally taken by trash haulers. Residents can place their large waste
items at the curb, and they will be picked up either for recycling or taken to the landfill for FREE!
Also, the Broomfield Rotary Clubs and ARC Thrift Store will provide FRONT PORCH pickup of tagged clothes and
reusable items.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day!
Saturday, May 8, 9 a.m. to noon
By appointment only!
Norman Smith Service Center, 3001 W. 124th Ave. (just east of Lowell
Blvd.)
Broomfield residents can dispose of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) chemicals such as pesticides, stains and
other toxic chemicals, and old electronics, such as televisions and computers, at Broomfield's spring HHW
event.
By law, no business, commercial, industrial or agricultural waste can be accepted at this event. For more
information and guidelines for acceptable items, refer to the HHW page.
The collection is for Broomfield residents, by appointment only.

Proof of residency will be required during the drop-off of your items. |

The Broomfield Recycling Center underwent renovations in November 2009.
Now open with new and easier
guidelines for recycling.
Thank you for your commitment to recycling! We hope you will enjoy and appreciate
the changes we have made to reduce the number of our hauls by
one-third, reduce operating costs, and reduce our carbon footprint
these past few months.
Our Education Center is now open to offer environmental classes for
Broomfield residents. To be apprised of our upcoming classes,
please refer to our Community Calendar, web page, or Channel 8.

Tree Limb Recycling Drop-off Open!
No Commercial Dumping. The Tree Limb Recycling drop-off is open
year-round, weather permitting, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1-5 p.m. The site is closed at
all other times.
This program is for Broomfield residents only and staff will check I.D.'s!

Waste Motor Oil and Cooking Oil Recycling
The popular year-round waste oil recycling program is
available at the Norman Smith Service Center located at 3001 W. 124th Ave. Broomfield residents may drop used
motor oil or cooking oil Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the first
Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. - noon. There is a 5-gallon per household, per-month
