In place of a regular Task Force
meeting, the City and
County
of
Broomfield
held a Sustainability Open House to showcase the work the Task Force
completed over the past 11 months.
The Open House was held from
6:30-8:30 p.m on
March 15, 2010
in the Lakeshore room at the
Broomfield
Community Center. There were 6 booths displayed
for the public that summarized the Sustainability Plan. The
University of Colorado Denver had a display showing the technical
input they provided during the process including the summaries from
the Focus Groups held March 2009, the Sustainability Survey
distributed to the Task Force and residents in April 2009, the
Greenhouse Gas inventory conducted for 2007, and the climate action
recommendations to reduce greenhouse gases. Each group in the Task
Force also had a booth with the proposed goals, policies and action
steps as an update to the Environmental Stewardship Section of the
Comprehensive Plan. These displays included: Resource Conservation,
Renewable and Alternative Energy, Community Education, Economic and
Financial Sustainability, and Transportation.
Members of the Task Force were
present to answer any questions on the proposed policies and action
steps. Residents were encouraged to provide comments on the plan
with sticky notes, which the Task Force will consider at their
meeting in April. The Preliminary Draft Sustainability Plan was
posted on the
Broomfield
website and is open to comments until
Monday,
April 5, 2010.
