Sustainable Broomfield Community Task Force
DRAFT Minutes Meeting
#13
May 20,
2010
This was the thirteenth and final
meeting of the Task Force.
As a wrap up to the sustainability process, the Task Force ranked
(prioritized) the Action Steps according to three criteria: Balancing
Benefits with Costs, Ease of Implementation, and Importance to the
community. The group weighted the criteria 45%, 15%, 40% respectively.
The Task Force also gave a value of 1-3 for each of the criteria and
action steps. From the weighted scores, staff can see what actions steps
are “low hanging fruits” and may be the easiest to tackle first. The
Implementation Strategy will be an appendix to the Sustainability Plan
and will be used as a guide for City and
County of Broomfield
staff. The Sustainability Plan will be presented to the City Council in
a study session on June 29th.

6:40 – Welcome/Agenda Review
6:45 – Approval of the Minutes
6:50 – This Task Force
meeting was spent reviewing and prioritizing the action steps in the
draft Sustainability Plan. The first step in prioritization was to
weight the criteria that were being scored. The Task Force looked at
three criteria, balancing benefits with costs, ease of implementation,
and importance to the community, when prioritizing the action steps.
After some discussion, the Task Force weighted the criteria as follows:
Balancing benefits with costs at 45%, ease of implementation at 15%, and
importance at 40%.
7:00 – For the remainder of the meeting, the Task Force
reviewed and scored each action step in the Sustainability plan. These
rankings were entered into the computerized matrix to calculate an
immediate weighted score. Previous to the meeting, staff gave a first
draft guess at these rankings to provide a starting point for discussion
with the Task Force. Where the Task Force felt necessary, rankings were
changed to better suit the opinions and perspectives of the group.
As this meeting was
the last Task Force meeting, the implementation rankings will be entered
in with the revisions from the meeting and will be sent out via email to
the Task Force for one last review. The Sustainability Plan will be
presented at the June 29th Council Study Session and will be
considered for approval in August.
