The City and County of Broomfield Fleet Department is fully PACE certified.
PACE, or Partnership for A Cleaner Environment, is an organization that originated from Boulder. The PACE program
is a voluntary, non-regulatory program that offers free pollution prevention education and technical assistance to area
businesses and organizations. Learn more about
this organization.
Some of the things the Fleet Division recycles to help maintain its PACE certification are oil filters, oil,
anti-freeze, freon, scrap metals, and aluminum cans. We also use all environmentally-friendly chemicals in our
shops. In keeping with the times, we use re-refined oil, which is environmentally safe. A certified company
hauls away used oil and re-refines it.
Supplies are purchased in bulk and the division has reduced or
eliminated the use of aerosols, chlorinated compounds, and other
chemicals.
