As leaders, not only in the community but in the state, Broomfield citizens are active resources in many children’s activities. Broomfield Health and Human Services  works with community leaders to create successful strategies in an effort to support children who are in foster care.

As the community continues to grow, support of children in foster care continue to be a need. Foster parents are an integral part of the development and nurturing of children and the health of the community. Foster parents offer children the stability and emotional support they need to experience a safe and encouraging environment.

Foster care provides protective services for children. Foster Parents provide 24-hour temporary care for children who cannot remain in their own homes due to neglect, abuse, or other significant family problems. The goal of Broomfield Health and Human Services is to strengthen the family of origin to safely return children to their own homes.

The objectives of foster care are to:

    • Protect the child and provide sufficient care for the child on a temporary basis in a nurturing, safe, stimulating environment.

    • Help the child cope with the separation from the family.

    • Foster and support a treatment plan for the child to achieve permanency.

Foster parents work together with the child’s biological parents and a variety of professionals including caseworkers, juvenile court officers and family counselors in private and public agencies, including a variety of medical personnel as needs of the child warrant.
