Broomfield is participating in
the statewide initiative to create an ongoing system of care for young children
and their families. As part of this statewide initiative, the Broomfield
Early Child Care Council (BECCC) is being developed to improve the quality of
care throughout the community. The Council will consist of a minimum
of ten members representing a broad spectrum of community organizations.
Representatives from the following groups will be selected and invited to
participate in this council.
Local government
Early Care and Education (including Head Start)
Health Care (including WIC, EPSDT, and IDEA)
Parents
Mental Health Care
Resource and Referral Agencies
Family Support and/or Parent Education Agencies and Programs
The Council may also include representatives from the following groups.
Child Care Association
Medical and Dental Professionals
School Districts and/or Parent Organizations
Head Start Policy Council
Chamber of Commerce
Local Businesses
Faith-Based or Non-Profit Organizations Serving Children
Higher Education Institutions
Libraries
The BECCC will focus on the
following goals and activities to support the work of early child care
providers.
Identifying and developing
resources and tools to help providers move toward licensure.
Developing strategies and
processes that support the statewide comprehensive plan.
Developing clear and concise
reports that measure progress based on the criteria established by
Qualistar.
Creating a strong
professional development plan for providers in the community (targeting
those in the community that are not yet licensed and providers of infant and
toddler care).
Advocating for early
childhood issues in Broomfield.
Developing and implementing
a functional, effective, comprehensive system for delivering services that
positively impacts early childhood development and child outcomes in
Broomfield.
