Travel Clinic Services:

Whether planning a relaxing vacation or heading off for a business trip, the last concern travelers want to think about it getting sick on their journey.  The summer travel season is here and we want travelers to be ready.

Broomfield HHS Travel Clinic provides information about vaccinations and health safety to ensure a safe trip for travel in the United States or abroad.  During the consultation, a public health nurse will discuss specific health concerns that may be encountered, including:

  • Food and water safety

  • Insect precautions, including malaria and yellow fever

  • Required and recommended immunizations

  • Travelers diarrhea prevention

  • Altitude precautions

  • Diseases that are endemic for countries on the itinerary

  • Travel advisories related to crime and travel safety

  • Swimming hazards

  • Local embassy information

  • Individualized information about the itinerary

  • Tips to prevent health complications from air travel

Information provided during the consultation is obtained from the Travax data systems and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to ensure travelers are provided with the most up to date information.

Fees for the travel consultation and immunizations vary depending on the services rendered.  Although the clinic is unable to bill medical insurance, we do accept cash, checks, and credit cards.  Group consultation rates are also available.

Plan Ahead

Ideally you should contact the Travel Clinic at least two weeks prior to your departure.  Many vaccinations need to be administered in advance of the travel date to be fully effective upon arrival at your destination so the earlier the better.  If needed, Yellow Fever immunizations must be given a minimum of 10 days prior to travel to be considered a valid inoculation.  If unable to make an appointment in advance, it is still advised to contact the Travel Clinic before departure as the immunizations will still provide some level of protection.

Travel Vaccines:

Please bring all immunization records for the nurse to review during the appointment.  Please be advised that occasionally certain vaccines may need to be special ordered up to 72 hours in advance.  The Travel Clinic provides the following vaccines:

  • Yellow Fever

  • Hepatitis A and B

  • Typhoid Fever

  • Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (TDAP)

  • Polio

  • Pneumococcal

  • Chicken Pox (Varicella)

  • Meningococcal Meningitis

  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella

  • Japanese Encephalitis
