Self-Sufficiency, Employment and Public Assistance Division Frank Schoengarth, Manager Self-Sufficiency, Employment, and Public Assistance Division Programs Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) TANF clients must be deemed job ready and in a work activity within 24 months. TANF benefits are limited to a cumulative lifetime total of 60-months. TANF clients are encouraged to utilize the Broomfield Workforce Center to find employment as well as to obtain various types of training and other job services. The CSE program provides assistance to custodial or non-custodial parents, or guardians to enforce child support orders in Colorado and for absent parents out-of-state. Broomfield's Workforce Center is a member of the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium. Low-income Energy Assistance Program LEAP is a seasonal program designed to provide eligible adults (single or a couple) with limited financial assistance toward paying utility bills between the months of November and April. The LEAP program is designed to help low-income households cover part of their winter home heating costs. Participants must meet certain eligibility requirements and income guidelines. For example, the maximum gross monthly income for a household of 4 is $3,184. LEAP applicants may also be eligible for emergency help such as repair or replacement of a primary heating system or for free furnace and weatherization services. Children's Health Programs Baby Care/Kid Care This program is designed to provide and promote pre-natal care and well child care up to age 6 to families and children in need of health insurance, but unable to obtain it. Child Health Plan Plus This program is designed to provide well child care to children up to age 18 for families who are unable to afford health insurance. Adult and Aging Eligibility Programs These programs provide interim financial and medical benefits to persons who meet eligibility criteria. These programs include Old Age Pension for persons over the age of 60 (if disabled) and 65 so long as they meet the income requirements. Most OAP clients also are deemed eligible for Medicaid. Aid to the Needy Disabled and Aid to the Blind are also adult and aging programs for clients who meet the income and eligibility requirements. Food Stamps This program allows persons who are eligible for public assistance programs to also receive benefits to purchase food. Food Stamps are limited to basic food items and cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco products or other non-food items. Medicaid This program provides medical assistance to persons who meet the eligibility requirements - regardless of age. Medicaid recipients are limited to receiving services from only those providers who accept payment from Medicaid. Not all medical providers accept Medicaid payment. | ||
