Rental Assistance Openings!

Health and Human Services is currently taking applications for the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program.  TBRA is a two-year self-sufficiency program that provides rental assistance and supportive services for low-income Broomfield families and/or children aging out of foster care.  Participants must be homeless, living in a shelter and/or temporarily living with family or friends in unsafe and/or unstable housing.  Applicants must meet income guidelines and eligibility requirements.  Please contact Sharon Farrell at 720-887-2257 for additional information.

Matched Savings Program for Buying a Home!

Are you interested in buying a home (also attending college or starting a business)?

If your response is YES, the Personal Investment Enterprise Program may be able to help you through its Individual Development Accounts (IDA's) Program.  IDA's are matched savings accounts designed to help low-income, working families and individuals accumulate money to purchase an asset of great value, such as a home.

New Carbon Monoxide Detector Law - Beginning July 1, 2009

Colorado House Bill 09-1091 requires that carbon monoxide (CO) alarms/detectors be installed for the following instances for single- and multi-family properties:

    - transfer of rental property

    - transfer of for-sale property

    - interior renovation requiring a building permit

    - new construction

FREE Weatherization - Lower Utility Bills and Make Your Home Safer!
Provided by Longs Peak Energy Conservation, a division of Boulder County government, through a grant from the Governor's Energy Office

 

 

 

Services - Licensed technicians perform energy audits - check for carbon monoxide poisoning and gas leaks - add insulation (as appropriate) - perform furnace checks, repairs and replacements - air-seal homes - replace refrigerators (as appropriate)

A Housing Counselor in Broomfield

Broomfield previously had a housing counselor thanks to Boulder County Housing and Human Services Housing Counseling Program. The counselor was available to meet with residents one-on-one in Broomfield to talk budget and credit, pre-purchase readiness, post-purchase planning, mortgage default and foreclosure intervention, and reverse mortgages. The one-on-one counseling is currently not available to Broomfield residents.  We hope to have the Boulder County counselor back in Broomfield soon.  In the meantime, Broomfield residents can attend the training classes that are available through Boulder County.  See specific information below. 

 Managing Your Mortgage in Tough Times - Training Course

The Boulder County Housing Counseling Program, a division of Boulder County Housing and Human Services, has consolidated their home buyer training into a one-day course. This monthly course will be held on Saturdays, from 10:00am to 4:30pm. Lunch is provided.

Locations include:

Boulder - Boulder County Housing and Human Services Department office, located at 2525 13th St., #204 in Boulder. The office is located approx. 5 blocks north of Pearl St., just east of Broadway.

Longmont - Longmont Senior Center, located at 910 Longs Peak Ave. in Longmont.

 

Financial Fitness Course

The Boulder County Housing Counseling Program, a division of Boulder County Housing and Human Services, offers a Financial Fitness Course; a 4-part course (Budget, Credit, Banking, Borrowing) to help improve your relationship with money. Learn how to set financial goals and begin working toward them!
