Recruitment - Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I apply for a vacant position?Submit the Broomfield General Application form, the Supplemental Application (for Police Department positions only) and the EOE Program Questionnaire to the Community Assistance Center (CAC) or Human Resources (HR) by the closing date. The General Application form, Supplemental Application (for Police Department positions only) form and the EOE Program Questionnaire are all available on the Broomfield website or may be picked up at the CAC or HR counter. A representative from HR will also be happy to fax or mail the applicable forms to any interested applicant. May I submit a resume?A resume may be attached to your application. However, be sure to answer all questions on the General Application form and on the Supplemental Application form (if applicable). The information on these forms is used to assess your qualifications and determine if you will proceed further in the testing process. Unsolicited resumes or resumes received that are not part of an application are not kept on file and are not used to fill future vacant positions. How long is my application kept active? This depends on the duration of the eligibility list. You will be advised if you are selected or not selected for a position. What do I do if I am interested in another position after submitting my initial application? You may submit a copy of your initial application form as long as it is in the current format (otherwise a new form must be completed). You will be asked to re-sign the newly copied application form. If I fail the testing for a particular position, when can I test again? You can be re-tested after 60 days if you apply for an open position that requires the same testing. Do you accept application packets by e-mail or fax?Yes, as long as the packet is received by the time indicated on the closing date. We recommend that you do not wait until close to 5:00 p.m. on the closing date to send your fax. If the fax machine is busy and we do not receive your fax in our office by 5:00 p.m., then your application would not be accepted. What types of positions are available for persons ages 14-16?We have several positions in the Recreation Division and in the Park Maintenance Division that are open to persons ages 14 through 16. These positions include: Aquatic Park Worker (minimum age 14) and Cashier (minimum age 16), Lifeguard (minimum age 15), Recreation Worker (minimum age 14 and for some sports minimum age 16), Youth Official I (minimum age for basketball and in-line hockey is 14; for volleyball it is 16). The person must meet the qualifications of the position in order to be considered. A work permit is not required. How is Veteran’s Preference determined?Serving in the military does not automatically mean that the applicant has Veterans Preference. The following guidelines will help you determine whether you are preference eligible: No Preference - an individual who neither qualifies as a 5-point or a 10-point preference. 5-Point Preference - an individual who was separated from the military under honorable conditions and who, other than for training purposes, (1) served in any branch of the armed forces of the United States during any period of any declared war or undeclared war or other armed hostilities against an armed foreign enemy, or (2) served on active duty in any such branch in any campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge is authorized; or an individual who is the surviving spouse of any person who was or would have been entitled to 5 or 10 points, or of any person who died during such service or as a result of service-connected cause while on active duty in any such branch, other than for training purposes. 10-Point Preference - an individual who has so served, other than for training purposes, and who, because of disability incurred in the line of duty, is receiving monetary compensation or disability retired benefits by reason of public laws administered by the Department of Defense or Veterans Administration, or any successor thereto. | |||||||||||||||||||||
