The following local book groups have submitted information and welcome new members. If you would like your book group added to this page, send your information to library@broomfield.org or call 720-887-2350.
Broomfield Book Club
We meet at 12:30 p.m. on the first Friday of the month, September through May, in the Eisenhower room at the library. (Sometimes holidays interfere with the first Friday, and the meeting moves to the second Friday.) We are a little
different in that we don't always read books for discussion. Sometimes
we pick topics or persons of interest and research and report on them.
Last year we took a field trip to the Butterfly Pavilion. And we always try to have at least one guest author speak to us each year. Anyone interested in more information can call 720-872-6453. New members welcome!
Summer Reading & Book Discussion Group ~ Presbyterian Church of Broomfield
Please feel free to borrow a book from your friend or the library.
This book discussion group meets at the Presbyterian Church of Broomfield, 350 Main Street, Broomfield, CO 80020. Phone: 303-466-4433.
Each discussion is for a single book. The Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels by Kenneth E. Bailey is a lengthy book and only the first 120 or 130 pages will be discussed. Hopefully this will spark a desire to read the remainder of the book.
There is no cost for the group discussion. Please feel free to join!

Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes: Cultural Studies in the Gospels by Kenneth E. Bailey [THEOLOGY] Price $17.00
Ken Bailey spent decades living in the Middle East and he offers fresh and insightful glimpses of the teachings of Jesus. Ken served God as Professor of New Testament and Head of the Biblical Department of the Near East School of Theology in Beirut where he also founded and directed the Institute for Middle Eastern New Testament Studies. This is a bit larger book than we normally select, but we are planning to discuss only a part of it so do not be put off by the size. You will likely read the rest once you get into it, for it discloses some wonderful ideas along the way.
Thursday, August 26, at 7:30 p.m.
Palace Council by Stephen Carter [FICTION] Price $11.00
Stephen Carter is a Christian serving as the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Yale University, who has written a number of books. Many find his books are very informative as well as interesting. The story of Eddie, and Aurelia, a rising black novelist and the woman he loves, is told with power and polish. Eddie's heart is tested when something happens to his sister. These events, along with the discovery of a body in a park, lead him on a lengthy chase through the corridors of power and the racial and political issues of his day. It will be a good read and springboard for some good discussion.

Marva is an author and conference speaker on worship and church life, and she shares in this book from her own experience and great wisdom on dealing with many issues the chronically ill and their caregivers face. One person who read this book states, I'm convinced that it is a must-read for anyone who suffers with limitations and disabilities or works with individuals whose lives have been affected by these limitations.
