The library offers access to the Internet and word processing computers which are located adjacent to the Reference Desk on the second floor. They are available on a first come first served basis or by reservation. There is a daily two-hour time limit. Sessions are fifteen minutes, thirty minutes, or sixty minutes. The Reference staff are happy to offer instruction on searching the Internet.

All computers are filtered unless specified by the user.  Children and teens under the age of 18 are always filtered. The library's Internet Policy was adopted by the Library Board on September 28, 2000.

Word processing and more:
The following programs and services are available on each computer:

  • MS Word: for producing written documents such as letters, papers, etc.
  • MS Excel: for creating spreadsheets
  • PowerPoint: for developing presentations

The library's Internet computers are managed by the Smart Access Management or SAM System. This system times the Internet sessions and provides a framework for printing. Here's how to use SAM for the first time you log in:

1.  Type in your library card number with D and without any spaces.

2.  Tab or move your cursor with the mouse to the PIN box.

3.  Create your own PIN - numbers only. It's not a secure PIN so we recommend using the last four digits of your phone number. Please do not use your bank PIN.

4.  Confirm your PIN number.

5.  Read and accept the Library"s Internet Policy.

6.  To use the Internet, click on the Internet icon [Big E] at the top left corner of the screen.

7.  You can also select Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. Disk access is available.
