Saturday, October 3, 2009 - Sleep, It Does a Brain Good
10:30 a.m. - 12 noon in the Eisenhower Room (upstairs) Did you know that sleep is food for the brain? You will learn how sleep impacts weight, health, learning and attention spans. Childcare providers, teachers, and parents will learn tools to teach children healthy sleep routines by making their own sleep book during this FREE seminar with Anita Schumann RN.
Hands On Model Railroads Presented by Youth in Model Railroading
Saturday, September 26 - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, September 27 - 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
For all ages - toddlers through adults. Full model railroad layout for kids and adults to try out. Twenty different ways to interact with the trains! Lower the crossing gates, ring the bells, hear the whistles and horns!
To be held in the Children's Library Story room. No registration is required for this free event.
Young Rembrandts
Drawing classes for children that combine what children need to learn and practice with what they love to draw. Have fun with these FREE preview classes!

Baby Story Times For ages newborn - 24 months with caregiver Thursdays 9:15 - 9:35 a.m. and repeated at 10 -10:20 a.m.
Accompanying adults will be encouraged to interact with their babies through books, songs, rhymes and bounces. No registration required. Program runs September through May.
Toddler Story Times For ages 21 - 35 months with caregiver

Thursdays 1:30 - 2 p.m. Preschool Story Times are for children ages 3 - 5 years who can sit on their own, listen to age-appropriate stories and participate in songs and fingerplays. No registration required.
Program runs September through May.

First Saturday Family Story Time & Craft For all ages
First Saturday of each month from 11 - 11:45 a.m. Our Saturday program of stories, songs and fingerplays for children of all ages and their families also includes a craft! No registration required.
Program runs September through May.
First Friday Make and Take
First Friday of the month, 2:30 - 4 p.m. September 4, October 2, November 6 A monthly craft time for children ages 2 and up. Come to the Children's Library during the designated time and make a craft to take home with you! Usually on the first Friday of the month, unless otherwise noted on the monthly Children's Library Calendar of Events. No registration required.
ARF(Afternoon Reading Fun) 4 - 5 p.m.
Wednesdays September 9 and 23, October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18
Students in Kindergarten to 5th grade can build confidence and fluency in their skills by reading aloud to Shiva, a trained therapy dog! Shiva will listen quietly without correcting or judging, creating a relaxing reading environment. Bring your own book, or choose a library book on your reading level. No registration required, but space is limited.
Third Saturday Fun! Attention kindergarteners - 2nd graders: this program is especially for you, and is presented the third Saturday of each month. Each program involves books, activities and a special craft built around a theme. This is a program for children currently attending grades K - 2. Kindergarten guidelines are that children be at least 5 years old by September 2009 and in an elementary level Kindergarten program (not Pre-K)

The Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library would like to tell you how happy we are to welcome your new baby as a member of our community. The Children’s Library would like to invite you to receive a few special gifts as part of our Baby Welcome Program.
If you are a Broomfield resident and have an infant age newborn to 1 year (12 months), please contact the Children’s Library to reserve your Baby Welcome Program gift packet. Each packet of free welcome materials includes a book, bookmark, gift bag, baby T-shirt and library related informational flyers. We would like to help your family have a positive beginning to a lifelong learning experience with books.
