Broomfield sets second Trail Adventure
as part of National Trails Day June 7

Broomfield residents will have an opportunity to join the country in participating in National Trails Day on June 7 at the second annual Broomfield Trail Adventure for the City and County of Broomfield .

The purpose of the event is to heighten awareness of how trails enhance a community’s overall quality of life.

The Broomfield Trail Adventure is a bike, walk, jog event that is free to the public. The Broomfield-sponsored event includes a tour of trails through the Interlocken and Flatiron Crossing areas as well as prizes and snacks.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at East Park in the Interlocken development.  The park is north of the intersection of Interlocken Loop and Interlocken Parkway off of State Highway 128. The Adventure will kick-off at 8 a.m. Parking is adjacent to East Park.

This year, there will be three circuits for participants to choose from. The first route will be a short loop for those folks that just want to take a quick jaunt through Interlocken’s Central Park. The route takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Participants will pass Interlocken Central Park’s scenic pond and Community Ditch.

The second five-mile loop will extend from East Park all the way to Varra Park (west end of Flatiron Crossing) and will wind back to East Park.

Participants will experience the Zip Shuttle path, several state-of-the-art pedestrian underpasses, the Miners Memorial, and commercial areas in the Flatiron Crossing area. The route takes about one and a half to two hours to complete.

Participants will also have an opportunity to join in a group bike ride, starting and finishing at East Park but following a longer route through western Broomfield along the multi-use path adjacent to State Highway 128. Bikers will ride down Eldorado Boulevard and head over to Varra Park. All three routes are a great way to start the weekend for families and friends who want to get outside and discover the western part of Broomfield’s trail system.

Sponsors for the event along with the City and County of Broomfield include Deli Zone, Eldorado Springs Water, Golden Bear Bikes, Jus’ Burritos and the Renaissance Denver Broomfield Suites Hotel.

The CSU Extension Service, Zip Shuttle, and the Nature Program have also been invited to participate.
