SCFD conducts Feb. 21 grant application workshop in Broomfield

A workshop presented by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) on how to become eligible and apply for SCFD funds will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m.

Organizations interested in applying for Broomfield’s allocation of the SCFD funds are invited to attend the workshop. It will be held in the Zang’s Spur Conference Room in the City and County Building, One DesCombes Dr.

The workshop will cover questions and procedures for the 2004 grant cycle. In 2003 SCFD distributed $129,259 to Broomfield scientific and cultural organizations.

Applications and guidelines are available at www.scfd.org. Deadline to file an application is 4 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2004. Call 303.860.0588 for more information.

Voters created the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District in 1988 to provide financial support to scientific and cultural organizations via a 0.1% sales and use tax in seven metro area counties. Counties within the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District include Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, northern Douglas and Jefferson.

Known among residents for its Polar Bear logo, SCFD facilitates the distribution of over $30 million in tax funds annually to organizations that provide for the enlightenment and entertainment of the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement or preservation of art, music, theater, dance, zoology, botany, natural history or cultural history.
