Media ReleaseApril 30, 2004 Media Contact: Rosann Doran Public Information Officer 303.438.6308 Did you Know? Many of the leading killers of women, including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, can be prevented or treated successfully if caught early enough. One important step a woman can take for better health is to get yearly checkups, asking her health care provider about screenings for heart disease, diabetes, cancer and sexually transmitted diseases. On Monday, May 10, health care providers will be offering preventive health screenings and other services. Broomfield’s Health and Human Services will participate in this effort. May 10, the day after Mother’s Day, has been dubbed “Check-up Day.” That day, the Reproductive Health Clinic will offer free breast exams, blood pressure screenings and other educational materials on women’s health care. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free screenings are open to women of any age and no appointment is necessary. The clinic is located at 6 Garden Center in Broomfield. Check-up Day is a highlight of National Women’s Health Week, May 9 to 16, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Events like Broomfield’s will be held in cities across America to encourage women to adopt healthy lifestyles. Call the clinic at 720-887-2220 for additional appointments or more information. | ||||||||||
