Air monitoring station
in Emerald Park to close by the end of year

Broomfield’s air monitoring station located in Emerald Park, off of Main Street and north of Second Avenue, will be closing at the end of the year.

Currently managed by the Rocky Flats Community Radiation Monitoring Program (ComRad), the station was  funded by the Department of Energy and implemented in 1990 to provide meteorological and radiological air monitoring as clean-up activities were occurring at Rocky Flats. 

Clean-up activities for Rocky Flats are scheduled to be completed this fall and the radiological air monitoring will no longer be necessary.  Closure of the station and associated operations are anticipated to occur by the end of this year
