Media ReleaseOctober 11, 2005 Media Contacts: Rosann Doran Public Information Officer 303.438.6308
Whooping cough Recent reports have placed Colorado second in the nation for cases of whooping cough (pertussis) and an increased number of cases in adolescents. Broomfield has had 20 cases of pertussis reported in 2005. Because the Centers for Disease Control determined that vaccinations provided to young children may lose their effectiveness by the teen years or in adults, concerned residents are urged to contact their primary care providers to discuss the need for pertussis vaccinations for adolescents and adults. For more information on pertussis vaccinations, call the HHS Public Health Nursing staff at 720-887-2220.
