HHS sets drive through flu shots

Broomfield’s Health and Human Services Department (HHS) is sponsoring a drive-thru flu shot clinic at the Broomfield County Commons on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until the approximately 1,000 doses of vaccine are given.

Participants are asked to enter the area from Lowell at the Paul Derda Recreation Center, 13201 Lowell Blvd., and follow the signs. Please wear short sleeves under sweaters or coats.

Shots are free to all. The vaccine was obtained as part of the HHS Emergency Preparedness grant and through the Department of Homeland Security. This clinic is a test of Broomfield’s readiness to provide mass inoculations in the event of an emergency.

There is no shortage of flu vaccine this year. Whether flu shots are received through a primary care provider or any of the many advertised flu clinics, Broomfield residents should consider being vaccinated as a way of preventing illnesses.

This event is a collaboration among HHS, the Broomfield Police and Public Works Departments.
