Broomfield City Councilwoman Lori R. Cox has been selected by
the Colorado Municipal League to represent Colorado on the National League of
Cities Finance, Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Policy
and Advocacy Committee. She is one of only four elected officials in Colorado to
be appointed to this committee for 2006.
Cox, who represents Broomfield’s Ward 2, was elected to the City Council in
November of 2003.
Service on the FAIR committee requires attendance at two meetings during the
year. The first meeting will be held in conjunction with the National League of
Cities Congressional City Conference in Washington DC in mid-March.
The FAIR Policy and Advocacy Committee creates a collection of position
statements on issues such as national economics, intergovernmental relations,
general financial assistance programs, liability insurance, municipal bonds,
capital finance, and labor relations. These position statements are then
published in the National League of Cities “National Municipal Policy Guide” and
become the foundation for that group’s advocacy efforts.
