Is Colorado’s future
in peril?
DU panel members speak in
Broomfield
at free symposium March 16
Is
Colorado’s economic future in peril? Broomfield residents will have an
opportunity to find out. Charles S. Brown and Jim Jacobs, participants of the
University of Denver’s Colorado Economic Futures Panel, will be in Broomfield to
present findings of a year-long study of Colorado’s
fiscal situation.
This free
symposium is open to anyone interested in the various issues impacting state and
local government. It begins at 7 p.m., March 16, in the City Council Chambers, 1
DesCombes Dr.
The Colorado
Economic Futures Panel completed its work last fall. It consulted with business
and civic leaders about
Colorado’s fiscal
situation, and this informed discussion has led to possible solutions which
Brown and Jacobs will present.
Brown led the
staff of researchers and analysts for the panel’s work. For 17 years, he was the
executive director of the State of Colorado Legislative Council, the nonpartisan
research staff of the Colorado General Assembly.
Under his
direction, the council staff conducted economic forecasting and analysis,
including general and cash fund revenues, property tax assessed values, public
school and higher education
