HHS, Mental Health Center offer program
to teach nurturing skills to parents
Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 30, Broomfield Health and Human
Services (HHS), in
collaboration with the Mental Health Center serving Boulder
and Broomfield Counties, will offer a 16-week Nurturing
Parenting Program designed to build nurturing skills and
practices by emphasizing the value of unconditional love
within a family.
The
Nurturing Parenting Program is family-centered. Its courses
teach participants about the developmental processes of a
child, the importance of offering children choices, and
showing children they are loved and respected, helping
parents to be more empathetic and nurturing caretakers.
HHS
will start the program. Classes will be weekly on Wednesday
evenings and dinner will be served to all participants and
their children. Classes are limited to 20 families. The
atmosphere will be light, fun and educational.
