Broomfield Elections Office will mail voting information

Registered voters in Broomfield who did not request an absentee ballot for the Nov. 7 General Election should soon be receiving a notice in the mail with information for the upcoming election and an absentee ballot application.

The elections office is mailing more than 20,000 notices this week and they should begin arriving in mailboxes Saturday, Sept. 9.  If you do not receive a notice and feel you should have, call 303-464-5857 or email  electiondepartment@broomfield.org for assistance.

The notice informs voters of the City and County’s switch from traditional precinct polling places to Vote Centers for Election Day voting.  Vote Centers offer voters the option of choosing any one of the seven sites rather than being assigned to a single polling location.

Vote Centers are:

  • Broomfield Senior Center, 280 Lamar Street
  • The Chateaux at Fox Meadows, 13600 Xavier Lane
  • Church of the Holy Comforter, 1700 West 10th Ave.
  • Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 12099 Lowell Blvd.
  • Flatiron Crossing Mall Community Room, One West Flatiron Circle, Suite 1083
  • Front Range Mobile Home Club House, 2885 East Midway Blvd.
  • Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 3031 West 144th  Ave.

Voters wishing to vote by mail should complete and return the absentee ballot application.  The application can be mailed or delivered to 1 DesCombes Dr., or faxed to the election department at 303-438-6252.  The elections office will begin mailing absentee ballots by the second week of October.

Many Broomfield voters have shown a preference for voting by mail.  In the August primary elections in Broomfield, 78 percent of the ballots were cast through the mail.  Colorado law does not require a voter to provide a reason for voting absentee.  It may simply be a voter’s preference to vote by mail.

The notice also provides the dates, times, and location for Early Voting.  Early Voting will be starting on Monday, Oct. 23 through Saturday, Oct. 28 and Monday, Oct. 30 through Nov. 3 at the City and County Building. Early voting hours are from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
