Community forum to aid caregivers 

Broomfield’s Health and Human Services Department and the Catholic Charities Kinship Care Program are teaming up to sponsor a community forum for relatives who care for children, especially grandparents raising grandchildren.  Care-giving relatives from Broomfield, Boulder, Westminster and Arvada are invited to participate in some adult conversation with others in similar situations.   

The event is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Broomfield Community Center, 280 Lamar St., in Broomfield.  Childcare and refreshments will be provided.   

Nationwide, there are more than 6 million children living in households headed by grandparents or other relatives.  The circumstances that lead to a shift in families know no ethnic or economic boundaries.
