Broomfield’s
Mosaic Lodge No. 184, along with the City and County
of Broomfield, will host the Masonic Grand Lodge of
Colorado for a ceremonial cornerstone laying at the
new Broomfield Event Center.
The activity
is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006 at 11 a.m.
The public is welcome to attend. Parking will be
limited, so please plan to carpool.
The
Broomfield Civic Chorus will supply patriotic music,
and Mayor Karen Stuart will introduce those
instrumental in construction of the Event Center.
Colorado Grand Lodge members will perform the
ceremony with the Mosaic Lodge members.
The
cornerstone of a building in ancient times was a
perfectly squared stone set in the corner of a new
building. It was “plumbed,” “squared,” and “leveled”
by the builder. In the United States, the public
laying of cornerstones is interwoven in American
history.
Over the last
200 years, cornerstones have been laid in hundreds
of public buildings, schools, churches and
government buildings. In Broomfield, Mosaic Lodge
No. 184 and the Grand Lodge of Colorado have
performed the ceremonial cornerstone laying for the
city and county’s public buildings, including the
City and County Building, the Health and Human
Services Building, the library, the Police and
Courts Building, and the Detention Center.
