Snowstorm update - 3 p.m.

Plans for snow and ice control activities will continue through the night of Friday, Dec. 29 and Saturday, Dec. 30. Around-the-clock efforts are focused on keeping priority streets open.

Public Works crews will continue 24 hour operations until the storm ends, with necessary clean-up efforts on Saturday. The priority streets are open and in good shape.

Contractual loaders will continue work in the residential areas overnight. There are between 10 and 12 large loaders and some other smaller equipment working in the residential areas to keep streets open for emergency vehicles, should they be needed, and passable for the local residents. The loaders will continue to work the residential areas at least through Saturday.

(Residents are asked to be patient.  Residential streets will be addressed following work on first and second priority streets.)

The Parks division has begun clearing sidewalks along the major thoroughfares. They will not be plowing any of the open space trails unless it also happens to be a school route.
