Voter notices mailed
To make sure voter
records reflect the most current and accurate information, the
Broomfield Clerk and Recorder Department will be mailing out notices to
over 7,500 registered voters this week.
Records show that
these voters failed to vote in the November, 2006, General Election.
The notice will offer a return postcard that may be completed and
returned by the voter to the Elections Division in order to keep that
voter’s record active in Broomfield.
The Elections
Division is encouraging anyone who receives a notice to promptly
complete the attached postcard and return it to this office.
If the voter has
moved, the postcard may be used to update the voter’s address in
Broomfield
or register the voter in another county.
If no response is
received by the Elections Division, the voter’s record will be placed in
an “inactive” status. Any future update to that record, such as an
address change or the voter casting a ballot in the next election, will
activate the record. If the record stays in an inactive status and the
voter fails to vote in the next two General Elections (2008 and 2010),
the voter’s record will be purged from the Broomfield voter file in
2011.
