Pothole Hotline!
Broomfield’s Public Works crews have been scrambling to keep up
with pothole patching these last few months since the December
blizzards. Getting enough “hot patch” has been problematic, so
many potholes have been repaired with a temporary “cold” patch.
And now
those pesky old potholes are back! And they’ve brought their
friends! Temporarily filled potholes are opening again, and
some areas in the roadways, weakened by past weather, are now
showing new potholes. It’s a seemingly never-ending saga.
The Field
Operations staff keeps a running list of the locations of
potholes. With the availability of “hot patch” limited until
mid-April because the asphalt plants close for the winter, much
of the patching that continues is still being done with the
“cold” patch mix. As the weather warms, streets warm, and the
asphalt plants go back into production, potholes will be
repaired with the more permanent hot mixture.
In the
meantime, residents are invited to join the Pothole Posse and
call in pothole locations as they are discovered. Crews will
check the location against the list, and add it if it’s not
already there.
The pothole
hotline number is 303.469.3301. Press extension 6604 to leave a
message as to the location of the pothole you’ve found. The
hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If
you encounter one that looks like it’s the edge of the earth,
call 303.438.6334 during regular business hours Monday through
Friday, and crews will be dispatched to mark the pothole for
safety and fill it as soon as possible.
