Broomfield chooses Quinn for mayor, returns incumbents in three races,
and elects newcomers Schumacher, Jacobs

Broomfield voters elected Patrick Quinn to the mayor’s seat, returned incumbents Lori Cox, Linda Reynolds and Walt Spader for their second four-year terms, and brought newcomers Todd Schumacher and Kevin Jacobs to city council.

Quinn, with 48 percent of the vote, outpolled Clark Griep’s 38 percent and Paul Madigan’s 13 percent, to replace term-limited outgoing Mayor Karen Stuart.

In Broomfield’s Ward 1 race, Todd Schumacher garnered 43 percent of the vote, followed by Tom Brunner with 30 percent and Patrick Tennyson with 26 percent.  Outgoing Councilmember Steve Kaverman chose not to seek a second term.

In the Ward 2 contest, incumbent Lori Cox won with 56 percent of the vote, defeating Louise Benson, 43 percent.

To replace term-limited Councilmember Vince Buzek in Ward 3, Kevin Jacobs outpolled Judy Lloyd by a 59 to 41 percentage.

In Ward 4, incumbent Walt Spader won with 53 percent of the vote over newcomer Judy Enderle’s 47 percent.

Incumbent Linda Reynolds defeated David Ryan by a 63 percent to 36 percent margin for the Ward 5 seat.

Both of the Broomfield questions, 1A and 1B to approve franchise agreements with the city for United Power and Public Service Company, passed by large margins. United Power won 72 percent to 28 percent voting no, and the Public Service franchise won with 76 percent voting yes, and 24 percent voting no.
