New
Cultural Affairs Manager hired

Karen Gerrity has been selected as the new Cultural
Affairs Manager for
Broomfield.
The announcement was made today by
Broomfield
City
and County Manager George Di Ciero.
Gerrity has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education
and a Masters in Cultural Foundations of Education.
Her past experience working closely with county
cultural councils, in business and facilities management
and as a resource to the public was a good fit for the
Broomfield
position, Di Ciero said.
She
has been Chief Operating Officer at etown, Executive
Director of The Dairy Center for the Arts in
Boulder,
and Founding Business Director for the
Boulder
Country
Day
School.
Currently Deputy Director at the Scientific and Cultural
Facilities District (SCFD), Gerrity will replace Alisa
Zimmerman who left
Broomfield
in December to become executive director of the Dragon
Boat Festival. Gerrity
will begin at
Broomfield
on Feb. 29 at a salary of $74,200.
Broomfield’s
Cultural Affairs Manager
is responsible for the planning, implementation,
promotion and supervision of
Broomfield’s
visual and performing
arts programming, auditorium
management, and
administration of SCFD Tier
and Percent for Art public art
funds. The position reports to the
Director of Library Services and Cultural Affairs.
Gerrity will office on the second floor of the Mamie
Doud Eisenhower Public Library,
3 Community Park Road.
There were
60 applicants for the position, and the top five
candidates were interviewed by a screening panel
consisting of Broomfield Public Art Committee members
and a former Cultural Council member along with
Broomfield Human Resources and library staff. The panel
concluded that Gerrity has experience in all areas
needed for this position.
