Housing counselor coming
Broomfield
will become home for a housing counselor
this summer, thanks to Boulder County
Housing Authority Housing Counseling
Program.
Through receipt of a federal grant, a
counselor in
Broomfield
will provide comprehensive one-on-one
services for
Broomfield
(and
Boulder
County)
residents on key housing and financial
issues including credit repair and
budgeting guidance, pre- and
post-purchase preparation, mortgage
default and foreclosure prevention
assistance, and Reverse Mortgage (HECM)
education. Additionally, the Program
conducts a free monthly Homeownership
Training course, for
Broomfield
residents.
Currently, the Boulder County Housing
Authority collaborates with
Broomfield
as a partner in the Boulder
County/Broomfield Regional HOME
Consortium, via the Broomfield Housing
Authority, and through a
recently-developed relationship with the
Public Trustee’s Office to refer
residents in foreclosure to counselors
for assistance.
The full-time counselor will occupy an
office in the
Broomfield
City
and
County
Building.
This office will be self-sufficient, and
supervised by
Boulder
County
as part of the collaboration.
The Housing Counseling Program is
supported by grants from the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), a sub-grant from
Colorado Housing and Finance Authority
(CHFA), funding from municipalities
within
Boulder
County,
and private bank contributions.
