Doran County seeks comment for grant funds Broomfield’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Department is requesting State approval to amend the 2008-09 Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Plan for the period March 1, 2008 through February 28, 2009. Public comment is required as part of the application amendment process. Any member of the public wishing to comment on the plan in person may visit the HHS offices at 6 Garden Center on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 from 9 a.m. to noon. Written comments may be mailed to HHS, 6 Garden Center, Broomfield, CO 80020, to be received by Aug. 11. They may also be delivered to the HHS first floor reception area, or e-mailed to: jhamilton@broomfield.org. Telephone comments may also be left on voice mail at 720.887.2279. Funding for the 2008-09 CSBG fiscal year is $20,141. This plan amendment deletes Community Food Share as one vendor, as this agency has elected not to contract with Broomfield. The amendment requests public comment for a second vendor to be named at a later date. Federal CSBG funds are made available to organizations to provide services for low-income families and children. Grantees must demonstrate that the community has recipients who are below 125 percent of the federal poverty level. CSBG funds for Colorado are distributed through the State Department of Local Affairs Community Services Block Grant Program Office. These dollars fund services and activities that will have a measurable and potentially major impact on causes of poverty in Broomfield. Broomfield HHS has received CSBG funds for emergency services (food and housing) since 2002. For more information or to comment, contact Jan Hamilton at 720.887.2279. | ||||||||
