Media Release Release Date: August 16, 2002 Rosann Doran Applicants needed to fill City Councilmember Kathy Brown, Ward 1 representative, has resigned from the Broomfield City Council, effective Sept. 1. Interested residents of Ward 1 who wish to apply have until Friday, Aug. 30, at 5 p.m. to submit an application. Applications are available from the Community Assistance Center in the Municipal Center, 1 DesCombes Dr., from the City Clerk’s office on the second floor, or on the City’s Web site at www.ci.broomfield.co.us.Interviews will be scheduled for Monday, Sept. 9, and City Council will make the appointment at its Sept. 10 or Sept. 24 regular meeting. First Citizens’ Academy session nears Interested residents are invited to participate in a Citizens’ Academy, a new, free program offered by the City and County of Broomfield. Thursday, Aug. 22 begins the first of six monthly sessions, each starting at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1 DesCombes Dr. Each session will be televised live on Broomfield’s cable channel 8. Questions after each presentation will be taken from those in attendance, and from questions that viewers can e-mail directly into the "classroom." While registration is not required, it is helpful to insure that sufficient materials are available.
