News Release Release Date: May 24, 2001 Broomfield joins Colorado Cares effort
Broomfield will join other jurisdictions in the state by participating in the annual Colorado Cares Volunteer Service Awards program established by Gov. Bill Owens. Nominations for outstanding volunteers to be honored with the 2001 awards are currently being accepted. - Click here for 2001 Nomination Form (Adobe Acrobat format 3.0 and above) - Each county in Colorado has been asked to select and honor outstanding volunteers and to submit the names of the top award winners from selected categories to the Governor for consideration for statewide awards. Volunteers who are making a difference in their schools, senior centers, neighborhoods and churches will be honored for the local and statewide awards. Anyone can nominate an individual or group for recognition. A reception honoring Broomfield’s top volunteers will be held in July. The Colorado Cares Volunteer Service Awards have been established to honor individuals and groups for their outstanding service, leadership and civic involvement. Categories are: Children/Youth, Seniors, Health, Community Pride, Education, and Good Samaritan. Additional categories include Exceptional Events, which recognizes volunteers who have responded immediately to an emergency through crisis intervention, support during natural disasters, violence, etc., and the Centennial Award, recognizing a Colorado resident who has made a significant and lifelong contribution to the state through service and volunteerism. Information and a nomination form have been distributed to schools, churches and service clubs in Broomfield. The information is also available at the Community Assistance Center in the Broomfield Municipal Center, 1 DesCombes Drive. Deadline for local nominations is Friday, June 22 at 5:00 p.m. Nomination packets should be received by that time. They can be mailed or delivered to: CAC, 1 DesCombes Dr., Broomfield, CO 80020.
