Media Release Release Date: Feb. 1, 2002 Rosann Doran LEAP can help with heating bills Broomfield’s Health and Human Services Department is accepting applications for the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). Applications are available from the department at #6 Garden Center, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or by calling 720-887-2200 or 1-866-HEATHELP (1-866-432-8435). LEAP is a program to help low-income households meet winter home heating expenses, but does not pay for the entire cost of home heating. Under state regulations, in most instances LEAP benefits are paid directly to the utility company or fuel supplier. The home’s residents will pay any remaining heating costs directly to the utility company or as part of rent. Applicants are required to submit a copy of the most recent heating bill, or a receipt and proof of income. Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2002.
