A message from
the city regarding Tuesday morning's events:
In the wake of this morning’s
attack on the East Coast, New York City and the Pentagon, the City
of Broomfield is monitoring events. The City and the Broomfield
Police Department are in contact with the state office of
emergency preparedness. While there is no indication at
this time that terrorist activity might occur in the Broomfield
region, police have instituted heightened patrols around schools,
other public buildings and in areas where large numbers of people
may congregate.
The FAA has ordered all airports closed,
including Jeffco Airport. While the airport proper is in
unincorporated Jefferson County, many of the streets and buildings
around the airport are in Broomfield. Consequently, Broomfield
Police are assisting the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department
to close the airport.
Residents are advised to tune in to news
stations for ongoing coverage of events surrounding the terrorist
attacks and any updates on precautions being taken in the
Broomfield region.
