City officials have received inquiries about actions to limit or
regulate the parking of recreational vehicles on residential properties.
No action is pending before the city council at this time.
Here’s what is really happening:
The city’s Community Development staff has been working in a public
process with residents of the First Filing and adjacent neighborhoods to
identify and address neighborhood issues for the Broomfield Heights First
Filing Sub Area Plan. At these meetings, a number of modifications to the
city’s nuisance and property maintenance codes have been discussed.
These discussions are still under way. They have included limiting some
uses including: recreational vehicle parking, accessory buildings,
off-street parking of commercial vehicles and trash container storage.
After the completion of the public process for the Broomfield Heights
First Filing Sub Area Plan are completed, recommendations will be
forwarded to the city council for review, discussion and consideration.
Nothing of this nature has been scheduled before the city council at this
time.
Any proposed changes to the Broomfield Municipal Code regarding laws
that are applied to the entire city will follow the city council’s
regular deliberative process. That includes two readings of the ordinance
that contain the changes, as well as a public hearing before the city
council where residents are encouraged to voice their opinions.
For information, contact the city’s Deputy Director of Community
Development, Kevin Standbridge at 303.438.6384. Also, see the Broomfield
Heights - First Filing Sub-Area Plan.
