Media Release Release Date: March 8, 2002 Rosann Doran Free seminars scheduled on sales, use tax Broomfield’s new tax administration division is conducting free sales and use tax seminars for all local businesses and contractors. Sales tax seminars are scheduled for Thursdays, March 21, April 25 and May 30. Business operators who collect sales tax may attend any one of the three. They will be conducted in the Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library conference room at 3 Community Park Rd. The seminars are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Interested residents are also welcome. The sales tax classes will include conversion to the Broomfield self-collected city sales tax, sales tax procedures and requirements, identification of taxable property, documentation procedures, filing requirements and record keepting. Contractors will want to attend the use tax seminars on Tuesdays, March 26 or May 28, also from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the library conference room. These classes will include the building permit process, calculation of use tax deposits, how to exempt Broomfield use tax when purchasing materials, reporting costs on completed projects and documentation needed for audits. In order for sufficient materials to be available, participants are asked to register prior to the date of the seminar they plan to attend, however walk-ins are welcome.
