Media Release Release Date: June 13, 2002 Rosann Doran Surveys seek public opinion Broomfield has scheduled two surveys for June mailings in an effort to determine residents’ opinions in two areas: general customer service delivery, and for the open space, parks, recreation and trails master plan. Both surveys will use representative samples of Broomfield residents, and will be statistically valid. For the general citizen survey, the representative sample will be asked opinions on the quality of service delivered by employees of the city and county. Tonya Haas, assistant city and county manager, is directing the survey effort. "Every department within the City and County of Broomfield is unified under a common mission which recognizes that the citizens of Broomfield are our customers," she said. The survey is designed to "measure how well we are doing in service delivery and whether we are meeting our goals." The National Research Center, Inc. will conduct the survey. The 3,000 residents who will be sampled will receive a pre-notification post card after June 19. The survey will then be mailed to them in two batches, one on June 26, and the second on July 3. Data received will be analyzed, and a draft report provided by the National Research Center in September. A second survey will assess Broomfield’s needs for open space, parks, recreation and trails planning purposes. It is scheduled to be mailed June 21. The representative sample for this effort is 5,000 residents. RRC Associates, the consultant for this project, is aiming to segment results so Broomfield can target programs for different groups in the Open Space, Parks, Recreation and Trails Master Plan. Questions on the survey are geared to assess how well open space, trails, parks, recreation facilities and programs are meeting the needs of the community, satisfaction with the physical condition of facilities, and the leisure and recreational activities residents participate in. Survey questions also give participants an opportunity to provide policy advice in different areas. For this survey, an additional 500 surveys will be available for residents who are not selected in the representative sample but wish to participate. Residents who do not receive the survey by mail will be able to request a copy by calling 303.464.5803 after June 24. These results will be kept separate from the statistical 5,000 group of surveys, and compared to the statistical results. In addition, focus groups and public meetings are planned for residents to participate in the master planning project. | ||||||||||
